Chris brings over 25 years of senior-level experience in the motorcycle industry, having led large corporate operations before co-founding Motorcycles UK with Darren Neal in December 2019.
His vision: to build a rider-focused business rooted in passion, integrity, and deep industry knowledge. His motorcycling journey began at 14, riding a 50cc Puch across the fields of Highworth. By 16, he was on the road with a Yamaha RD50—until a mishap led to its early retirement and a swift upgrade to a Yamaha FS1E (“Fizzy”) fitted with the obligatory 60cc big bore kit. From there, Chris moved through a series of iconic machines: Yamaha RXS100, RD350-LC, and at 20, the mighty Kawasaki GPZ1000-RX—the fastest production bike of its time. Chris’s favourite bike remains the Kawasaki GPZ900, a machine that perfectly captures the spirit of performance and innovation. His most memorable trips include riding to Le Mans and the Isle of Man, where the thrill of the road meets the heritage of racing.
As Director, Chris combines strategic leadership with hands-on enthusiasm, ensuring Motorcycles UK delivers excellence in service, selection, and rider experience.
Darren has been immersed in the motorcycle industry since leaving the RAF in 1996, working with some of the UK’s largest and most respected dealers. In 2019, he co-founded Motorcycles UK with Chris Waldron—bringing his passion, experience, and vision to life in a business built by riders, for riders.
His first taste of motorcycling came at just two years old, perched on the seat of his dad’s 250 BSA. By 14, he was riding a Yamaha DT50 field bike—earned not through a showroom, but as payment for a house painting job. At 16, Darren hit the roads on a Yamaha RD50, passed his test at 17, and immediately bought the fastest bike he could afford: a Yamaha FZR600, which met an untimely end just four days later. That hunger for speed led Darren to the racetrack, where he competed across multiple classes and made three appearances at the legendary Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man. His club-level racing career includes multiple wins aboard everything from 600cc machines to full-blown Superbikes.
Darren’s enthusiasm for riding remains undiminished. Whether leading the business, sharing stories from the paddock, or helping customers find their perfect bike, he brings energy, insight, and a lifelong love of motorcycles to every part of the journey.
Steve discovered his passion for motorcycles at 16, kicking off his riding career aboard a Yamaha FS1E (“Fizzy”)—a rite of passage for many, but the start of something much bigger for him.
With nearly three decades in the motorcycle world, Steve’s experience spans instruction, sales, and racing. He spent 10 years as a certified motorcycle instructor, followed by 15 years in motorcycle sales, helping riders find the perfect match. On the track, Steve competed for three seasons in the 600cc production class, earning an impressive 2nd place finish overall. His most memorable riding experiences come from touring across Europe, with standout moments in Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, and Austria—each trip adding to his deep appreciation for the freedom and culture of motorcycling.
Steve’s favourite bike is the Suzuki GS1000S, a machine that perfectly blends classic styling with muscular performance. Whether guiding new riders, advising seasoned enthusiasts, or sharing stories from the road, Steve brings knowledge, professionalism, and a genuine love for motorcycles to every conversation.
John’s lifelong passion for motorcycles began at the age of three—riding before he could even master a push bike. His first machine, a red F-reg Yamaha FS1E (“Fizzy”), was a local legend in Highworth: the only 50cc on the streets without a big bore kit.
With over two decades in the motorcycle industry, John brings deep technical knowledge, hands-on expertise, and a racer’s instinct to everything he does. His standout career moments include racing grasstrack and speedway across Europe, collecting stories that are as wild as they are unforgettable.
John’s favourite bikes reflect his love for raw performance and iconic design: the Ducati 916 SP for its race-bred elegance, and the Honda CR500 two-stroke for its uncompromising power.
Whether advising on routine servicing, diagnostic repairs or high-performance setups, John’s insight is grounded in experience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for the ride.
